This page will help you to deploy less than 15FP in a 15FP match, the ability to do so being what makes this competition possible. You will have to make a small change to one of the files in your LSN folder, but it's not that difficult to do. More to the point, it's easy to undo if you want to. Details for how to set it up are found below. Once it's set up, you will be able to press the T key on your keyboard during deployment to go straight to the game before you've placed the full number of FP worth of units. You can test this in a hotseat game if you wish. For this competition it will mean that when you are playing as the Running Man you should deploy your Commander, and one HQ if you wish, and then press T to end your deployment. |

IF YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING: Add the follwing line to the deployment screen keyboard accelerators in the interface config file: T | SetTestOrders | Null |

IF YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING: You might like to take a look at this thread on the LSN forum: click In it Count Zero explains how to set things up, and there is a little discussion on the technique. There are two ways to make the change, as detailed below. Before you attempt either you should find and make a backup copy of the file Interface.CFG which lives in the configs folder of LSN. Typically this will be C:/Program Files/Laser Squad Nemesis/Configs/Interface.CFG although this may be different if you've installed LSN into a different folder. OPTION ONE: CHANGE IT YOURSELF Find the file Interface.CFG and open it with a text editor such as Notepad. In this file are a number of different lists of keyboard accelerators (ie. buttons mapped to do certain things) that LSN will use. Which list it uses depends on whether you're playing a game, making a deployment, or using the map editor. The ones we're interested in are the deployment ones, so scroll down until you find them. Alternatively you could do a search for 1 | SetDeploy0 | Null which is one of the lines in the keyboard accelerator section we're looking for and should take you straight there. Once you've found the keyboard accelerator section, add the following on a new line: Then save the edited file over the existing file, and you're done. OPTION TWO: DOWNLOAD THIS FILE Tharg very kindly prepared a copy of the Interface.CFG file with the modification already made. You can download this file here: http://www.tharg.dsl.pipex.com/Interface.cfg This file should replace the original Interface.CFG file that you made a backup copy of earlier. Either download it to that location, or download it elsewhere and then copy it to that location. ...and that's it! |
