The first squad to take the name Immortals in these modern times was funded by pickupsticks and composed of Commander Oscar and his loyal supporters: two snipers, two grenadiers, three medics and four grunts. With only two HQ units for backup, these brave men of the Laser Marines were ready to take on any challenge. Their first active combat mission together as a unit was to put down a rogue unit of marines (Tharg being the evil mastermind behind them) and whilst their success seemed assured from the beginning, it came at a price. Four men lost their lives, Private Rex being shot in the back whilst working in a dangerous forward position to provide intelligence that saved the lives of his companions. After this baptism of fire the squad travelled to the Airport to leave Berlin. MrE had other ideas, and his marine squad did terrible damage to Commander Oscar's charges. Although the commander himself survived a near-suicidal attack upon the enemy bunker which he led from the front, many man lost their lives when the two enemy officers made a break for it and attacked his lines from the side. The squad which were then tasked to take control of a strategically important Armoury consisted mainly of new conscripts - all proud to carry the name onward. Victory seemed inevitible, to Brootal's dismay, and after a brief pause to remember the fallen The Immortals were flung back into combat again, and wiped out by Private Dickson's heartless Machina task force. Hail to our new mechanical overlords! | ||||||
